The Department of justice has fired dozens of prosecutors who worked on the Jan. 6 cases sending hundreds of people who were at the Capitol on Jan. 6th to prison.
Interim U.S. Attorney Ed Martin emailed the employees saying that they were letting go of people that the Trump administration says were improperly hired by the outgoing Biden administration.
One of the fired prosecutors who handled some of the 1,600 criminal cases stemming from Jan. 6 said about 25 to 30 colleagues were fired.
Other prosecutors were moved to different offices.
The DOJ is now investigating the Biden administration’s hiring of the prosecutors. That investigation stems from Trump’s executive order directing an end to the “weaponization” of government agencies.
