Marjorie Taylor Greene Testifies For More Than 3 Hours, Denies ‘insurrectionist’ Charge In Court

U.S. Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene is fighting for her right to run for reelection after a liberal organization aims to kick her off the ballot because of her support for Donald Trump.

The group alleging that Greene helped facilitate the protest at the Capitol on January 6th, calling it an insurrection and saying she is not eligible for reelection under a rarely cited section of the 14t Amendment that deals with “insurrection or rebellion.”

The Congresswoman was welcomed to her hearing Thursday in Georgia by a crowd of cheering supporters,

Attorneys for the Liberal group often brought in ‘CNN’ articles as evidence and said that Greene should be booted from the ballot for supporting what liberals have dubbed the insurrection.

Taylor Greene’s attorney on the other hand argued that Greene was engaged in “legitimate political speech” when she said she thought the 2020 Presidential election was stolen.

During Taylor Greene’s testimony, she did not allow opposing council to speculate or twist  her words with out calling him out on his tactics.

Greene  testified that she has never endorsed violence, even when the opposing council played spliced up and edited tapes of her speaking. Those videos posted to social media by liberal pundits or aired on liberal news networks.

Such as the partial clip of an interview played which was recorded on Jan. 5, 2021, in which Taylor Greene said this is “our 1776 moment.”  Greene said she was talking about her plans to object to the certification of electoral votes.

“I was talking about the courage to object,” she said.

“Ms. Greene, I’m just asking questions,” he said.

“I’m just answering,” she responded.

James Bopp, a lawyer for Greene, said his client “did not engage in the attack on the Capitol,” and the challengers are making a very serious charge with significant ramifications.

“They want to deny the right to vote to the thousands of people living in the 14th District of Georgia by removing Greene from the ballot,” he said.

Greene testified that she never promotes any type of violence and that she doesn’t remember having conversations with other  lawmakers or White House officials about the possibility of the January 6th protests to turn violent.
“I only believe in peaceful demonstration. I do not support violence.”
She also testified that she believes President Joe Biden lost the election to Trump.
“We saw a tremendous amount of voter fraud,”

Greene met with Trump about making objections to certain states’ electoral votes because of concerns about voter fraud, Bopp said. At the time of the riot, she was in a dark hallway at the Capitol urging people via social media to be safe and remain calm, he said.

“Rep. Greene was a victim of this attack,” Bopp said, adding that she believed her life could be in danger.

Dozens of Greene supporters attended the hearing, including U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, out of Florida.

In a statement Thursday, slammed Raffensperger and Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp for allowing the trial against Greene, saying she is “going through hell in their attempt to unseat her.”

Raffensperger and Kemp have been called Rinos for allegedly refusing to properly investigate allegations of widespread voter fraud.

During her testimony Greene asserted that in the numerous Trump Rallies she’s attended she has never seen any type of violence so wouldn’t have been able to predict that anything would happen during the January 6th protest.

In fact, she testified that the only violence she has seen has been at Black lives matter and Antifa Riots.

The group Free Speech for people, filed attempted to kick other Republicans off the Ballot in states like Arizona, which a judge ruled against them and in North Carolina where U.S. Congressman Madison Cawthorn was their target.  A Federal judge blocked that challenge last month.

It appears the group only targets Republicans.

Greene is set to appear on the Republican ballot for Georgia’s May 24 primary and has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump.

The administrative law judge overseeing the hearing will present his findings to  Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, who then must determine whether or not Greene can be booted off the ballot.
