That’s when she was shot  by a criminal who was trying to shoot another teenage criminal.

17-year-old Brayden Smith boarded, walked down the aisle, pulled out a handgun, and fired two shots toward 18-year-old Patrick Scott.

Caitlin Stup seated nearby, was hit in the head and died.

A 16-year-old male passenger was also wounded (he had non-life-threatening injuries and was released from the hospital the next day)

Police say there was an argument between Smith and Scott.

Smith fired the fatal shots, with Scott not accused of shooting back.

Both suspects were arrested shortly after HPD released surveillance photos, which were quickly recognized by school resource officers (Scott was identified as a former student at Elsik High School and Smith as a current student).

Smith was already on juvenile probation for attempting to commit aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.

He’s being charged with murder.

Scott was out on a reduced bond for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon
