The sentencing stems from crimes committed in 2023 – when Biden era open border policies were fueling a massive influx of illegal migration, and enriching Mexican drug cartels who were trafficking migrants across the border, according to experts.
The smugglers kidnapped a family – a man, his pregnant wife and their 7-year-old daughter – while taking them from San Antonio to Austin.
The smugglers repeatedly r*ped the pregnant woman in front of her child, demanded ransom from relatives and threatened to k*ll the young girl or sell the baby if money wasn’t wired immediately. ***
The convicted smugglers include:
Rodolfo Daniel De Hoyos, 22, nicknamed “Rufles,” sentenced to over 14 years for conspiracy to harbor illegal aliens, causing serious bodily injury, and placing lives in jeopardy.
Juan Antonio Flores, 36, sentenced to more than 17 years behind bars for coordinating the smuggling
Three other accomplices, whose combined sentences bring the total to 89 years, with four more defendants having pleaded guilty as part of an ongoing investigation involving at least nine people.
