During a DOGE audit earlier this year, it was revealed that illegal migrants were being funneled through a loophole in an automatic system that gave them Social Security numbers.
DOGE saying they tracked the illegals and found that they were on benefit programs. They then looked to see if they were on the voter rolls, and in a handful of cooperative states, they found thousands of them. Many of them had voted.
DOGE highlighted a ‘dramatic rise’ in Social Security numbers issued to noncitizens via the Enumeration Beyond Entry (EBE) program.
Launched to streamline processing – the program automatically mails Social Security cards to people with work authorizations from DHS – like migrants.
DOGE’s chart showed issuances climbing from 270,000 in fiscal year 2021 to 2.1 million in 2024.
The surge was attributed to Biden-era policies, including expedited work permits for migrant applicants.
DOGE detailed how the system’s “defaults” were set to “max inclusion, and max pay” for migrants, funneling them into benefits like Medicaid.
DOGE identified 1.3 million noncitizens already enrolled in the program.
“We found that there were about 5 million of them who came into the country illegally and got through an automatic system with Social Security numbers. We tracked that and found that they were on benefit programs. We then looked to see if they were on the voter rolls, and in a handful of cooperative states, we found thousands of them.
