Mayor Brandon Johnson is using charged language and threatening riots if President Donald Trump sends in the national guard to reduce the sky-high crime and homelessness in the Windy City.
Critics are slamming Johnson for language that they say incites violence against a president that has already had two ass*ssination attempts on his life.
This comes as Trump is considering expanding his successful D.C. model—where National Guard deployments have led to more than 700 of arrests and plummeting crime rates—to other Democrat-run cities plagued by high crime rates.
“The people of this city are accustomed to rising up against tyranny and if that’s necessary, I believe that the people of Chicago will stand alongside me”
Johnson’s comments echo his calls in June to fight against ICE raids, and labeling Trump a tyrant.
He urged Chicagoans to “rise up in this moment” against what he labeled “terrorism”
He called for resistance “in the streets”
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker called Trump’s plans an “authoritarian power grab” however their crime rates tell a different story
Chicago remains a hotspot for rampant criminal activity, due to progressive policies that protect criminals.
