Illegal migrant families with 2 kids got $1,440 a month – amounting to nearly $13,000 over 9. months, while American military families on deployment suffered from a deficit of $1,860 over 9 months
New York city’s cash to illegals initiative, was launched in March of last year by Mayor Eric Adams.
It handed out prepaid Mastercards to illegal migrant families who were already in city-funded (taxpayer funded) hotels.
The cards funneled $3.2 million to about 2,600 households – eventually racking up a $53 million cost to taxpayers.
A typical household of four got about $1,440 a month. The money was loaded directly onto credit cards for use at local stores
Over nine months, this amounted to about $12,600 in unrestricted aid per family.
Deployed service members faced a net loss of over $200 each month:
Meal deductions from their basic allowance for subsistence ($452.56)
Incentive pay ($195) or family separation allowance ($250 for those with dependents)
An average family ended up $1,860 deeper in the red over a standard nine-month tour
Migrants pocketed over $12,600 in that timeframe, while military families absorbed a $1,860 hit – meaning illegal migrants were getting 7X more money the troops deployed.
