#new President Donald Trump’s signature will now appear on all future US currency, alongside the signature of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent
The change is part of a redesign commemorating the 250th anniversary of American independence.
This is the first time in American history that a sitting president’s signature will be on the dollar.
Production starts with $100 bills in June, followed by other denominations shortly after.
The change is permanent unless a future administration reverses it.
The US Treasurer’s signature has appeared on paper currency since its introduction in 1861, alongside the Treasury Secretary.
This unbroken 165-year tradition ends now to mark the July 4, 2026, milestone.
The Treasury has authority to decide whose signatures are on Federal Reserve notes, and no new legislation is required.
