#new Democrat leaders in Massachusetts implemented ‘social workers’ to go on police calls to ‘de-escalate’ situations
One of them was just attacked after spending 45 minutes trying to talk to the suspect.
A mental health clinician was knocked to the ground and an officer was stabbed in the arm with a sword after 45 minutes was spent trying to talk the suspect into coming out peacefully for help.
Critics saying that the ‘social worker’ program is putting both the clinician’s and police officers in danger.
The attack happened just before 11 a.m. near Northeastern University.
Police got a 911 call from the man inside the apartment saying that four armed people were trying to hurt him.
Officers arrived, could not find any threat outside, and talked to him through his locked door.
A Boston EMS mental health clinician tried to de-escalate the situation.
The clinician and officers kept talking through the door for about 35 to 45 minutes.
That’s when the man suddenly opened the door armed with a sword, hit the clinician, knocked her down, and stabbed one officer in the arm, causing a severe cut.
Officers fired a Taser first, then their guns, stopping him.
The suspect was treated on scene but died at the hospital. The clinician and several officers were hurt.
