#new Gov. Gavin Newsom has announced that the state will funnel $20 million in taxpayer dollars to an NGO connected to his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom
Its for the “Free diapers” that will be handed out to newborns through the group Baby2Baby.
Baby2Baby’s co-CEO Norah Weinstein sits on the board of Jennifer Newsom’s NGO “California Partners Project”
This is not the first time that Jennifer is connected to massive taxpayer funded projects, and other scandals related to her NGOs
She is the honorary chair of the NGO CalVolunteers that was given at least $1 Million in FireAid relief, in which $0 went directly to the victims of the Palisades wildfires.
The Representation Project (Jennifer Newsom’s nonprofit organization) receives millions of dollars from the State of California.
That project has paid nearly $2 million to Jennifer Newsoms’ for profit since 2021, including a $150,000 annual contracting fee since 2018.
The taxpayer dollars that are sent to her ‘for profit’ organization – give the Newsom family a benefit of ~$1.5 million from nonprofit salary + ~$1.7 million from film sales/licenses
Plus, the ‘free diapers’ cost over 3 times more per diaper than if a family bought in bulk from Costco.
Let’s work the numbers
100,000 newborns will be given 400 diapers each
100,000 babies × 400 diapers = 40 million diapers
$20 million ÷ 40 million = $0.50 per diaper
Sams sells diapers for $.15 each,
That’s $60 for 400 diapers = $6 million for 40 million diapers
So California is using taxpayer dollars to buy $20 million worth of diapers that normally cost $6 million.
The state is paying more than 3X per diaper than a family buying diapers at Sams.
Another Democrat state money pit – where taxpayers foot the bill
