#new Zohran Mamdani is refusing to attend New York City’s annual Israel Day Parade, after taking part in multiple m*slim celebrations across the city since taking office
The socialist becomes the first mayor to skip the event in 61 years, breaking a tradition upheld by every city leader since 1964.
Mamdani confirmed his boycott saying,
“While I will not be attending the Israel Day Parade, my lack of attendance should not be mistaken for a refusal to provide security or the necessary permits for its safety.”
This comes as New York City, home to the largest Jewish population outside Israel, continues to see record levels of antisemitic violence.
Many in the Jewish community say they will not be marching as they fear a jihad attack, as m*slims have become empowered under Mamdani’s rule.
Former Mayor Eric Adams plans to attend in Mamdani’s place.
Mamdani has a long history of anti-Israel statements and positions.
Rudy Giuliani called it evidence of Mamdani’s
“deep disdain and hatred of the Jewish community.”
Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) slammed the boycott.
Brooklyn Republican Assemblyman Michael Novakhov said:
“Zohran Mamdani is choosing to boycott this event because he is more interested in appeasing radical antisemitic extremists than standing with Jewish New Yorkers.”
While skipping the Israel parade, Mamdani has been highly visible during Muslim holidays
He attended dozens of iftars across the city
He hosted events at City Hall and Gracie Mansion, visited Rikers Island for an iftar, and joined large Eid prayers in Prospect Park with the Brooklyn Islamic Center and in Washington Square Park.
He unveiled Eid lights and released statements calling Ramadan a celebration “for all of us.”
Media described the m*slim holidays as especially prominent under the city’s first M*slim mayor.
