➡️Former Hamtramck City Manager Max Garbarino and former Officer David Adamczyk sued the City of Hamtramck, then-Mayor Amer Ghalib, then-Police Chief Jamiel Altaheri, and six council members.
➡️They say they were retaliated against after reporting corruption.
➡️They also say the mslim city leaders targeted them because they are White.
➡️The city and the named officials denied it, then they countersued.
Some of the details in the suit:
🔸️Police Chief Altaheri allegedly took part in a plan to buy a presidential pardon for $5 million and had a fake Hamtramck Police ID made for a civilian tied to that pardon talk, in exchange for money.
🔸️Officers were called to Altaheri’s home more than once for allegedly punching his wife in the stomach, hitting her with a pole, and ripping off one of her fingernails during a fight after she found out he was cheating.
🔸️He then allegedly told officers not to write it up.
🔸️He allegedly used undercover police resources to recover a stolen Mercedes and had it stored at a home tied to him. A convicted felon was part of that recovery.
🔸️He drove a city truck after drinking, including to and from a strip club with other officers in the truck, using police lights to run red lights.
🔸️City leaders blocked election-fraud investigations, meddled in hiring, and then suspended the two whistleblowers.
🔸️Former officer Adamczyk filed a second lawsuit case on Dec. 1, 2025, in federal court in Detroit.
🔸️He wants $5 million for being fired for reporting Altaheri (Police Chief) and for joining the first lawsuit.
In addition, former clerk Rana Faraj sued after she reported election fraud and finding a stack of absentee ballots at City Hall the day after the November 2025 election.
She was later fired.
Two council members, Mohammed Hassan and Muhtasin Sadman, have faced felony election-fraud charges tied to earlier races.
The city approved paying Mayor Alharbi’s legal fees in the ballot fight.
The stack of claims could be more than insurance limits.
