A three Judge panel has unanimously ruled that four criminal charges of election fraud against a democrat clerk out of Oakland county, Michigan can proceed.
Southfield city clerk Sherikai Hawkins, who is serving her second elected term as city clerk, was charged with fraud connected to the November 2018 elections. Hawkins has been charged with one count of violating election law by falsifying returns or records, a five-year felony that can include a $1,000 fine;mone count of forgery of a public record, a 14-year felony; and one count of misconduct in office, a five-year felony that can include a $10,000 fine.
The other three charges involve the alleged use of a computer to commit the other violations all felonies that carry 7 to 10 year prison sentences.
Hawkins filed a motion to invalidate the charges – which an Oakland circuit judge granted, for four of the charges. However, in a 19 page opinion, the appeals court rejected the decision and reinstated all charges.
She now faces 6 charges related to election fraud.
The trial is scheduled for October 25th.
