The new Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy, has confirmed that he will keep his promise to prevent three liberal democrats from their House Committee assignments.
According to an interview, Representative Ilhan Omar will be prevented from sitting on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and both Reps. Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell will be blocked from the House Intelligence Committee saying,
“Swalwell can’t get a security clearance in the private sector. I’m not going to give him a government security clearance. Schiff has lied too many times to the American public. He should not be on Intel.”
McCarthy also asserts that Omar needed to be stripped of her committee seat for her antisemetic speech,
“I made all [three] cases before. It’s not like it’s anything new,” he said.
McCarthy had promised that if and when Republicans took control of the house in 2022, he would reappoint Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Paul Gosar to their committee seats (each had been kicked off by Nancy Pelosi) and boot the three Democrats.
