CNN Medical Analyst Admits Covid Deaths Were Massively Overcounted “Most Were In Hospital For Other Illness”

Dr. Leana Wen, who is a CNN medical analyst and occasionally writes a column for the Washington Post admitted this week that Covid deaths and Hospitilixations are being overcounted, adding that most “patients diagnosed with COVID are actually in the hospital for some other illness.”

Her article is titled “We are overcounting COVID deaths and hospitalizations. That’s a problem.”

The article is in stark contrast to what Wen said about Covid and Covid-19 Vaccines for the past two and a half years when she repeatedly insisted on CNN that traveling was not a ‘constitutional right’ and that life should be made very difficult for ‘people who remained unvaccinated.’

Wen opens the column with what appears to be skepticism about the CDC’s latest COVID-19 death stats: “According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the United States is experiencing around 400 COVID deaths every day. At that rate, there would be nearly 150,000 deaths a year. But are these Americans dying from COVID or with COVID?”

The Dr. went on to say that “Understanding this distinction is crucial to putting the continuing toll of the coronavirus into perspective,” adding that people need to know the information so they can make better decisions on what their risk is and whether or not they should get the vaccine and/ or booster shots.

According to Wen, Infectious-disease experts told her that “the number of deaths attributed to COVID is far greater than the actual number of people dying from COVID.”

In fact, she said, “Robin Dretler, an attending physician at Emory Decatur Hospital and the former president of Georgia’s chapter of Infectious Diseases Society of America, estimates that at his hospital, 90 percent of patients diagnosed with COVID are actually in the hospital for some other illness.”

Dretler told the analyst, “Since every hospitalized patient gets tested for COVID many are incidentally positive.” Wen noted how people with gunshot wounds or other serious illnesses often test positive for the virus, and wrote, “If these patients die, COVID might get added to their death certificate along with the other diagnoses. But the coronavirus was not the primary contributor to their death and often played no role at all.”

Dr. Dretler admitted that there was “imprecise reporting” on COVID deaths and hospitalizations.

In addition, Wen also cited Shira Doron, an infectious-disease physician who said that “In recent months, only about 30 percent of total hospitalizations with COVID were primarily attributed to the virus”

Dr. Doron told Wen of their experience at Tufts Medical Center saying that “During some days the proportion of those hospitalized because of COVID were as low as 10 percent of the total number reported” who had COVID.

Many people took to social media to slam Dr. Wen for not only coming out with this information ‘two and a half years late’ but also pushing the opposite narrative throughout the pandemic.

Posts were made pointing to the fact that during the pandemic businesses were forced to close, schools were shut down, tens of thousands of people were permanently banned from social media (for expressing the now-validated information) and lives were destroyed. Others even pointed to the fact that the same publication – The Washington Post – that the article was published in, was calling Americans ‘conspiracy theorists’ who should be ‘ostracized from society.’

Others talked about the Vaccine saying that tens of thousands of people lost their jobs for not getting the jab, including those in the military that were stripped of their benefits as well.
