In a turnaround for a nation plagued by socialist policies and economic failure, President Milei has flipped the script with his free-market reforms, driving down poverty rates and restoring hope to millions.
Elected in late 2023 during hyperinflation inherited from decades of big-government spending, Milei used his infamous “chainsaw” to slash bureaucracy, and achieve a historic budget surplus.
His Capitalist policies took inflation from 211% to 31% and GDP expanded by 5.8% in early 2025 driven by lifted capital controls that attracted $2.5 billion in foreign investment.
Milei’s approval rating has surged to 60% as of early January 2026, making him the third-most popular world leader in global surveys.
Once one of the world’s richest nations in the early 1900s, Argentina’s embrace of socialism destroyed the country.
Milei reversed this by cutting 70,000 bloated public jobs, and ending subsidies that distorted markets
