The ATF can now revoke the licenses of businesses or people that sell guns, simply for minor paperwork errors because of a ‘zero tolerance’ policy put in place by the Biden Administration
According to the latest update from the ATF- the organization will “initiate proceedings to revoke the license of any dealer that has committed a willful regulatory violation of the Gun Control Act (GCA) for specified violations,” on the first offense
Some of these violations are serious like failing to conduct a background check or selling a gun to a person who is not allowed, by law, to have one. However, many of these violations that have been added could result from a single, simple paperwork error that could be made when accounting for firearms, or maintaining records for gun tracing.
They have also added a violation for failing to respond to a trace request which could happen if the gun dealer misses a phone call or a notice in the mail. According to the ATF’s quick reference guide, The ATF at the direction of the Biden Administration could revoke the gun dealers license.
Advocates of the 2nd amendment say that this policy was never made available to the public for comment or published in the federal register. It simply appeared on the White House website and they say it will reduce the number of firearms dealers in the country making it harder for Americans to exercise their second amendment rights.
