Canada is forcing all its residents to turn over their guns – giving them one year to be compensated for them, after which it will become a crime to *own*…. certain guns.
The Trudeau administration’s multi-year push to ban more than 2,500 models of semi-*automatic* rifles labeled “assault-style” – is being fulfilled in one year’s time.
The label has been slapped on everything from AR-15 variants to tactical hunting rifles.
The government’s Assault-Style *Firearms* Compensation Program (ASFCP) promises fair market value payouts to owners who turn in their now-prohibited weapons, but only if they play ball before the clock runs out.
Bans started May 1, 2020 (for more than 1,500 models), it was expanded December 5, of last year (adding 324 more), and March 7, (179 additional models were added).
A temporary *amnesty* …..shields licensed owners from criminal charges for possession until October 30 of this year – a deadline that was recently extended to October 2026 to allow the buyback to unfold.
Without this grace period, owning these specific guns is already illegal under the Criminal Code, punishable by fines or jail time.
Businesses wrapped their phase by April 30 surrendering over 12,000 firearms for $22 million.
Failure to comply after the amnesty period ends, and you can be charged for illegal possession.
Many believe this is the start to banning and confiscating all guns in Canada
