Imam Mohammed Tawhidi, widely known as the “Imam of Peace” says Islamic extremists strategically support left-wing politics in the West – even though it seems antithetical to their own belief systems. – because they are easily brainwashed.
In a recent interview he explains from the perspective of an extremist (drawing on his own past experiences) why radicals view leftists as “useful idiots”—naive allies who can be manipulated.
He says this is possible because of their lack of firm principles on issues like social justice, LGBTQ+ rights, abortion, and climate activism.
Imam: I was an extremist, Islamist, fundamentalist. I would only vote left.
Interviewer: Why’s that?
Imam: I saw them as very stupid. I would fear the conservatives because they come with principle. That’s not someone [you] can brainwash. But the left, I know they have no values or principles to begin with.
Imam: I dare you [to] find one Islamic extremist [who gives] the votes for Donald Trump. Never do [they].
They give their vote to the left, to the leftist who wants to run around in pride parades. Islamic extremists are against gays and homosexuals…and transgenders
Imam: But they want the left to go [and] get busy with that. They want [them to] go, speak about climate. Go speak about abortion. Kill yourselves. Do it. She’s fighting for her abortion rights. My body is my choice.
Interviewer: Would a muslim have an abortion?
Imam: Never. Never.
Interviewer: Would she kill a Muslim in her stomach?
Imam: NEVER.
Interviewer: What is the fundamentalist and jihadi agenda for America?
Imam: The future of America has to be Muslim.
Tawhidi has been vocal for over a decade about the dangers of Islamist extremism infiltrating Western societies.
He advocates for a moderate, reformed Islam compatible with democracy and has faced de*th threats and ass*ssination attempts from Islamists as a result.
