Gov. Gavin Newsom’s Department of Water & Power pays employees more than $700K a year, according to the most recent available data from the City Controller’s office
Listen to this….
LADWP employs around 11,000 people:
109 employees make more than $500,000 a year – in roles like linemen, engineers, and managers
27 employees make more than $600,000 a year – including senior executives and specialized technicians.
4 employees make more than $700,000 a year – including top-level executives, led by the General Manager at about $750,000
Employee salaries account for $1.6 Billion each year
However, critics point out that these highly paid individuals couldn’t find the money to repair a $150,000 tear in the Santa Ynez Reservoir keeping it offline for over a year, and out of commission during the Palisades fire that burned through more than 7,000 structures.
As for the Palisades Reservoir – the 6-million-gallon reservoir was drained in June 2024 with no plans to bring it back online
