A high speed chase took place in Texas after a U.S. citizen,who was allegedly smuggling 62 illegal migrants across the border, ended in gunfire. The Department of Public Safety (DPS) confirmed that a ltruck tractor towing a tanker trailer raced past Border Patrol at a checkpoint in Webb County.
Border Patrol gave chase, but the driver kept going. According to DPS Texas state troopers took over the pursuit, which led them to the city of Cotulla, Texas. The truck driver hit several law enforcement vehicles, and sideswiped a La Salle County patrol unit, which is when Sheriff’s deputies and DPS Troopers opened fire.
The driver was shot several times and was taken to the hospital.
