ICE has gained access to Medicaid data, including addresses so they can track down, detain and deport illegal migrants.
About 1.4 Million illegal migrants are receiving Medicaid benefits according to recently released data.
The Trump administration has officially granted ICE access to the personal data of every person that is enrolled in Medicaid nationwide – to “receive identity and location information on aliens identified by ICE.” This will help ICE track, locate and deport illegal migrants.
The move is part of an agreement between Medicare / Medicaid (which is under HHS) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
HHS says they are teaming up with ICE to help them identify illegal migrants who are receiving Medicaid benefits – which should only be going to U.S. citizens.
The move comes after Trump officials demanded data from seven states that expanded Medicaid eligibility during the Biden era.
The database includes the personal information of about 79 million people.
Data will have names, home addresses, birth dates, ethnic and racial information, Social Security numbers, and other identifiable details.
