A massive Martin Luther King Jr. statue has been unveiled in the nation’s oldest public park in Boston, where the leader first met his wife, Coretta Scott King, but many are saying it’s a ‘woke’ statue that looks like a ‘giant penis.’
The $10 million sculpture called “The Embrace” consists of four intertwined arms and was inspired by a photo of the Kings embracing when King Jr. learned he had won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.
However, many think the giant sculpture is insulting to the icon’s life and memory including Seneca Scott, Coretta’s cousin who told The Post in in a phone interview on Sunday,
“The mainstream media … was reporting on it like it was all beautiful, ’cause they were told they had to say that. but then when it came out, a little boy pointed out — ‘That’s a penis!’ and everyone was like, ‘Yo, that’s a big old dong, man,” said the 43-year-old Oakland, Calif., resident. “If you had showed that statute to anyone in the ’hood, they’d have been like, ‘No, absolutely not.’ “ adding that ‘woke’ culture is to blame.,
“The woke algorithm is just broke, I don’t know what else to tell you. If you went through all of that and that’s what you came up with, something’s wrong,” he said, “You’re spending $10 million on a bronze statue without heads on it? Man, it’s a joke.”
Seneca then told the Compact mag that“Ten million dollars were wasted to create a masturbatory metal homage to my legendary family members — one of the all-time greatest American families.”
The bronze artwork was designed byHank Willis Thomas and MASS Design Group and was selected out of 126 proposals.
