Rep. Jasmine Crockett’s security guard was k*lled by Dallas SWAT during a tense stand off when he pulled out a gun and pointed it at officers, according to sources
The security guard for the Democrat Representative was a wanted fugitive.
Mike King was wanted for impersonating a law enforcement officer. He served on the protection detail for Rep. Crockett.
Police say King, who was driving a replica undercover police vehicle and used license plates stolen from cars outside of a military recruiting office, had a lengthy criminal history.
King also oversaw teams of real off-duty police officers hired for protection.
The shooting happened when King drove into the parking garage of Children’s Health hospital in downtown Dallas, barricading himself inside, and ignoring commands to surrender.
Officers deployed tear gas to get King to come out, however they say, he pulled out a firearm instead forcing SWAT to open fire.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
King can be seen standing close to Crockett in photos from campaign events and public appearances – prompting critics to question how a criminal, who was a wanted fugitive, was able to manage extra‑duty jobs for police officers and secure a high‑level security role for a sitting member of Congress.
Crockett’s campaign finance records show payments made to “Mike King” for security services as recently as 2025.
Crockett’s office has declined to comment on whether background checks were done or if any red flags were ignored.

Details:
- King was actively wanted on impersonating a police officer. He falsely presented himself as a certified officer to operate his business.
- He founded and ran “Off Duty Police Services,” an online platform that linked North Texas police officers with side gigs for private security, even though he didn’t have any certification.
- King profited in that business by posing as a police officer – gaining the trust of his clients.
- King used multiple aliases, with authorities saying they have not released his true identity
- King drove a fake police car that was outfitted with features mimicking official vehicles, including those stolen license plates taken from cars parked outside of the military recruiting office.
- This added layers of theft and fraud to his charges.
- King managed security operations at several downtown Dallas hotels and at his local church on the premise that he was an official police officer.
