A woman arrived at the juror’s home carrying a bag with $120,000 in cash inside.

The woman left the money with the juror’s father with a message, vote to acquit the defendants and get another bag of money.

The juror immediately called law enforcement and handed over the cash – filled bag – which had bundles of $100, $50, and $20 bills.

The next day,  Judge Nancy Brasel was told what happened. She then dismissed Juror #52 from the case.

The judge also ordered an FBI investigation into the bribery attempt, with the cash and bag turned over to authorities for analysis.

The bribery attempt raised speculation about its origins with some, including a Somali community leader, pointing to the defendants’ possible connections to overseas entities, such as al-Shabaab, however evidence directly linking the bribery to the terrorist group was not discovered.

The community leader said that these types of bribery tactics were unusual for local disputes but like the corruption seen in Somalia.
