Socialist Zohran Mamdani has hand-picked an Islamic radical, who arrived in the U.S. last year with a degree in anti-Western ideology, to be inserted into New York’s legislature.
Mamdani endorsed Aber Kawas for the New York State Assembly.
Kawas moved to New York City last year after earning a masters degree in “Islamic Liberation Theology” from a University in South Africa, and is a Palestinian activist.
Critics are now pointing to Mamdani’s plan to defund the police and his call to “globalize the intifada” as precursors to his alleged ultimate goals that are becoming more clear with his latest endorsement.
Mamdani threw his support behind Kawa during a closed-door Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) meeting, positioning the 30-something newcomer as the hand-picked choice to represent Queens’ 36th Assembly District.
Kawas, who has deep ties to anti-police and anti-Israel causes, is set to challenge the incumbent in the 2026 Democratic primary—a move that could fast-track her into Albany if successful.
Kawas came into the country in the early 2000s, (her return last year was after she received her anti-western degree)
Her father was deported back to Palestine when she was 16, fueling her hate against immigration enforcement and putting into question her original status when she came into the country.
