SCOTUS: Trump Can Revoke TPS For Over 300,000 Venezuelans

The Supreme Court ruled that President Trump can revoke Biden era protections for hundreds of thousands of Venezuelan migrants –  racking up a huge victory for presidential authority and border security.

The 6-3 ruling granted the Trump administration’s request to stay a lower court injunction, greenlighting the immediate revocation of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for over 300,000 Venezuelan migrants currently protected from deportation.

The Court issued a similar stay back in May, but the latest decision overrides a fresh block from a California district judge and the 9th Circuit, letting DHS Secretary Kristi Noem enforce the policy immediately.

TPS was massively expanded under Biden to cover Venezuelans, ballooning the protected population to around 350,000 with work permits and deportation deferrals.

Trump moved to end it earlier this year, arguing the conditions in Venezuela no longer justify the status and that it’s being abused as a backdoor amnesty.

A Northern District of California judge ruled the revocation “unlawful” in March, issuing a preliminary injunction that escalated to final judgment last month.

The ruling reaffirms President Trump’s authority to make immigration policy decisions without having to go through endless court hearings.

It’s also a green light for mass deportations
