Suspect In Minnesota Shooting A Former Appointee Of Gov. Tim Walz

The suspect in the Minnesota shooting of two lawmakers and their spouses is a former appointee of Gov. Tim Walz.

57-year-old Vance Luther Boelter has been identified as that suspect. He was appointed by Minnesota Governor Tim Walz in 2019 to serve a four-year term on the Governor’s Workforce Development Board.

He previously served on the same board in 2016 under Democrat Gov. Mark Dayton.

One official saying that Boelter had a relationship with Gov. Walz

Before the identity of the suspect was known, Gov.  Walz described the shooting as a “politically motivated ass*ssination”

Boelter posed as a police officer when he allegedly shot Sen. John Hoffman and his wife in their Champlin home early Saturday, leaving them seriously injured.

He then allegedly shot and killed former Democratic House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband.

Officials have confirmed that “No Kings” flyers were found in the suspect’s vehicle, a reference to Saturday’s planned protests against the Trump Administration & ICE. They also found a “manifesto” and a list of other politicians’ names
