Victims, Gunman & ‘Good Samaritan’ Who Killed Mass Shooter At Indiana Mall Identified

Police have identified the three people who were killed in a mass shooting at the Greenwood Park Mall in Indiana, the suspected gunman and the armed citizen with a firearm who shot and killed the shooter.

The victims have been identified as 30-year-old Victor Gomez, 56-year-old Pedro Pineda and 37-year-old Rosa Mirian Rivera de Pineda, 37.

The gunman – who also injured two other people- has been identified as 20-year-old Johnathan Douglas Sapirman.

According to police, Sapirman did not have a criminal history as an adult however he did have  juvenile offenses, including a fight at school and “being a juvenile runaway.”

The citizen who was carrying a legal firearm and killed the gunman is 22-year old Elisjsha Dicken. Dicken was carrying his gun under Indiana’s constitutional carry law, which allows citizens to carry guns without an additional permit.

He was in the mall shopping with his girlfriend at the time the shooting took place.  Police say he fired off 10 rounds hitting Sapirman as Sapirman tried to run back into the bathroom but collapsed and died.

Greenwood Police Department Chief Jim Ison praised Dicken’s actions saying he saved countless lives,

“His actions were nothing short of heroic. He engaged the gunman from quite a distance with a handgun. He was very proficient in that, tactically sound, and as he moved to close in on the suspect, he was also motioning for people to exit behind him,” Ison said. “He has, to our knowledge — he has no police training and no military background.”
