New details have been released in the indictment of an Illegal migrant who allegedly stole an identity, voted & received $400,000 in federal benefits.
59-year-old Lina Maria Orovio-Hernandez – an illegal migrant from Columbia -was indicted by a federal grand jury in Boston for identity theft, federal benefit fraud, and voter fraud.
Court documents show that she’s been in the U.S. for over 20 years and has had a stolen identity the entire time.
She used that identity to get about $400,000 in federal benefits, including:
$259,589 in Section 8 rental assistance
$101,257 in Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits and
$43,348 in Food Stamp benefits
She was able to get a Massachusetts Real ID along with eight other state IDs, and also applied for a U.S. passport using the same stolen identity.
Orovio-Hernandez is also being charged with voter fraud after allegedly registering to vote in January 2023 and voting in the November 2024 presidential election.

Orovio-Hernandez faces multiple charges, including:
False representation of a Social Security number
Making a false statement in a passport application
Aggravated identity theft

If convicted, she faces 10 years in prison and fines up to $250,000 per count. She will also face deportation after she finishes her sentence.
