Hillary Clinton claimed that deportations under Clinton & Obama were far greater than under President Donald Trump “without putting children into detention camps.”

However, critics are pointing out that the Obama administration was the creator of ‘Kids in cages’ a nickname given to the administration for its child detention facilities that locked kids in small rooms surrounded by chain linked fences – something the democrats and main stream media would later blame Trump for.

During the 2014 surge of migrants, the Obama administration detained tens of thousands of unaccompanied minors – who were housed in chain-link enclosures—described as “cages”

Facilities in places like Nogales, Arizona, and Brownsville, Texas, forced children to lie on mats on the floor behind wire fencing, with reports of overcrowding and limited amenities

The Obama administration expanded family detention centers, and separated families, while unaccompanied children were held in the ‘cages’ for a prolonged periods of time.

Mainstream media outlets and democrats ignored them under Obama, but labeled them “concentration camps” under Trump.

Hillary Clinton herself even criticized Obama for creating ‘kids in cages’

Fast Facts:

Under Obama 67 people died in custody

Academic research by Jacqueline Stevens (Northwestern University Deportation Research Clinic) estimated that well over 4,000 U.S. citizens experienced immigration detention or deportation in 2010 alone – Obama administration.

Obama also deported American citizens, including Mark Lyttle, a North Carolina-born citizen with mental disabilities who was deported to Mexico in 2008–2009 despite evidence of his citizenship.

He later received a settlement.

2008 Andres Robles: Another U.S. citizen was deported to Mexico.

He returned and was awarded a $350,000 settlement from the government

2008 Davino Watson: A New York U.S. citizen was held in an Alabama ICE detention center for three years.

He had to prove his citizenship without an attorney.

Clinton also deported American citizens like Miguel Silvestre who was deported twice in 1999.

Data during the Clinton administration is harder to come by because systems weren’t in place yet, however, experts say the foundations of modern immigration detention and deportation trace directly to the Clinton years.

Meanwhile, the Trump administration has not deported a single American citizen, does not keep kids in cages, and has actually rescued more than 145,000 of the more than 300,000 migrant kids that were lost during the Biden administration.
