#new Ilhan Omar refused to hand over records on her ties to the $250 million welfare fraud scheme, but escaped a subpoena after Minnesota democrats protected her
Omar “ghosted” the committee and showed “incredible arrogance and disdain for the people of Minnesota.”
A motion for a subpoena was filed to force Omar to turn over documents in the Feeding Our Future scheme, carried out by her fellow Somali migrants.
However, democrats blocked the motion by voting unanimously against it.
Omar did not produce the required documents, did not testify, and did not respond to multiple requests and a formal letter.
Omar had already skipped an earlier hearing and has now missed the deadline to turn in the docs.
The committee wanted her communications with people involved in the scheme (that she is apparently close to) like the Safari Restaurant, Feeding Our Future employees and founder, and many others who were convicted in the scandal that she has ties to.
“We have reached out to Representative Ilhan Omar on multiple occasions, inviting her to testify and inviting and requesting documents… The only tool left for us as a committee if we want to get these documents is to issue a subpoena.”
Republicans say that Omar fueled, and quite possibly set the fraud up, by pushing the federal MEALS Act in 2020, which took away safeguards and oversight rules for welfare programs (child nutrition) during C*vid.
Her name appeared at least six times in trial exhibits from the Feeding Our Future case – in which Somali migrants stole $250 million from American taxpayers then spent the money on luxurious lifestyles, houses in different countries and they even sent money back to Somalia for the t*rrorist group Al-Shabaab.
