#New Democrats are attacking President Donald Trump for rolling out the red carpet for Chinese President Xi Jinping in D.C. but failed to mention that Democrats spent years doing the same exact thing.

The DNC called the visit “lavish,” accused Trump of putting billionaires first, and said his presidency was “for sale to the highest bidder.”
Senate Democrats said Trump “rolled out the red carpet for Xi” and chose “pageantry over purpose.”
Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass. said, “He loves dictators.”

However, Democrats stayed silent on the full White House state dinner for Xi under President Barack Obama in 2015 and a San Francisco street cleanup under California Gov. Gavin Newsom in 2023.
🔵On Thursday, Sept. 24, Trump and first lady Melania Trump hosted Xi and Peng Liyuan at the White House for an arrival ceremony and a state dinner.
🔵On Friday, Sept. 25, the two couples had tea and toured the National Archives.
🔵Barack Obama, on the flip side, actually hosted a Chinese President twice:
🔵On Sept. 25, 2015, Barack and Michelle Obama greeted Xi and Peng at the White House for an official state visit and state dinner.
🔵It was Obama’s second state dinner for China.
🔵 The head table included Mark Zuckerberg, Apple CEO Tim Cook, and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.
🔵 Obama toasted “friendship and peace”
🔵 About 220 guests attended – Democrats were silent.
🔵Governor Gavin Newsom cleaned up the homeless for President Xi:
🔵In November 2023, Gov. Gavin Newsom hosted President Xi for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.
🔵In the days before Xi arrived, Newsom cleared homeless encampments, power-washed sidewalks, scrubbed graffiti, and added planters and murals along the routes leaders would see.
🔵Here’s what Newsom said at the time
“I know folks say, ‘Oh, they’re just cleaning up this place because all those fancy leaders are coming into town.’ That’s true because it’s true.”
🔵A month earlier, in October 2023, Newsom had traveled to China to meet with President Xi and sign a climate memorandum.
