A newly released video shows a suspect slamming his vehicle into a Chicago Police Officer pinning the officer to his squad car, then opening fire
According to the Chicago Police Department, it happened when the officers tried to make a traffic stop. That’s when the suspect drove his vehicle into one of the officers pinning him between his vehicle and the Squad Car. The suspect and the two officers opened fire, and all three were injured.
Authorities found two weapons inside the suspects vehicle after the shooting.
Police Chief David Brown said that there is no such thing as a routine Traffic stop in Chicago, adding that it is the most dangerous time to be a police officer in this country saying that the number of police officers either shot or shot at has increased 500% in Chicago over the past two years.
Chicago is ranked as one of the most dangerous cities to live in.
According to the CPD’s City wide crime statistics, Chicago has racked up 124 murders, 460 Sexual assaults, about 7000 Robberies, burglaries or thefts and about 3,000 carjackings so far this year.
Democrat Mayor Lori Lightfoot continues to deny there is a problem with crime in her city and advocates for the soft on crime approach that many blame for the skyrocketing increases in violent crime in the windy city.
