The fifth victim in the Sacramento Mass Shooting has been identified by a woman who posted on Facebook that her sister was killed.
According to social media posts the victim’s name is Johntaya ‘JoJo’ Alexander, and she just turned 21-years-old.
In another post, a woman who said her niece was also at the event but was okay, sent love out to her family,
38-year-old Sergio Harris has been the first person identified as one of the 6 people killed during the mass shooting in downtown Sacramento early Sunday morning.
According to numerous posts made to Facebook David Jackson was also killed. Those social media posts indicate that Jackson was Harris’ cousin.
Pamela Harris Sergio’s mother, was on the scene directly after the shooting and learned that her son had been killed,
“My son was a very vivacious young man,” Harris said. “For this to happen is crazy. I don’t know what to do. I don’t even feel like this is real. I feel like this is a dream.”
Police in California continue to search for at least one suspect and have not confirmed whether or not more gunman were involved in the shooting.
Police are now saying that in addition to the 6 deaths, 12 people were injured and taken to area hospitals.
Kathy Lester, the Sacramento Police Chief said at a news conference that police were patrolling the area at about 2 a.m. when they heard gunfire erupt. When they arrived at the scene, they found a large crowd gathered on the street and six people dead. Another 12 either took themselves or were transported to hospitals. No information was given on their conditions.
Authorities say there is a possibility that more than one suspect was involved and that it is a ‘very complex scene.’ They are asking that any witnesses, anyone with any information or recordings of the shooting contact the police.
After shooting took place, a video was posted to Twitter. In the video you could hear rapid gunfire while people in the street are fighting. Another Video shows people running in the streets and multiple ambulances arriving to the scene.
Witnesses described the horrific scene to local media,
“The first thing I saw was like victims. I saw a young girl with a whole bunch of blood in her body, a girl taking off glass from her, a young girl screaming saying, ‘They killed my sister.’ A mother running up, ‘Where’s my son, has my son been shot?’“
Some witnesses say the gunfire erupted after a fight broke out.
