New filings from Special Counsel John Durham claim that Michael Sussmann, the former campaign lawyer for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 Campaign, not only lied to the FBI but Lied to the CIA as well.
Durham’s original indictments alleges that Sussman met with then FBI General Counsel James Baker in September 2016. In that meeting Sussman presented “purported data and ‘white papers’ that allegedly showed The Trump Organization had secret ties to Alfa Bank, which has ties to the Kremlin.
Sussman telling Baker that he was not working “for any client” during that meeting, however the indictment alleges that Sussmann lied,
“falsely stating to the general counsel that he was not providing the allegations to the FBI on behalf of any client.”
Sussman was working for The Hillary Clinton Campaign.
Durham’s new filing show that in addition to claims Sussmann lied to the FBI, he also lied to CIA Agents during a meeting after President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
According to a CIA official’s memo that introduced by Durham’s team, Sussman met with CIA officers and gave them documents and flash drives that he said had information about Trump and his dealings with Russia. The meeting took place on Feb. 9, 2017.
The document says Sussmann told the officers “he was not representing a particular client” but was providing information from unnamed “contacts” who he believed were acting in “good faith” and loyalty to the United States government.
However, according to notes of the meeting by a former CIA employee, Sussmann told him that he “represents a client who does not want to be known.”
Sussmann also testified to the House Intelligence Committee that the information came “from a client of mine.”
