In a news release Florida’s Department of Education released examples of Critical Race Theory infused textbooks that were banned from being used in Florida public schools, including one that asserts conservatives are more racist than liberals.
The examples were released just days after Governor Ron DeSantis announced that 54 math textbooks were being rejected for reportedly including “indoctrinating concepts” like Critical Race Theory
According to the release, Florida’s Education Department received numerous requests from the public to view the books, so they decided to make public just a few of the many examples,
“Based on the volume of requests the Department has received for examples of problematic elements of the recently reviewed instructional materials, the following are examples provided to the department by the public and presented no conflict in sharing them. These examples do not represent an exhaustive list of input received by the Department.”
In one of the examples shown, students would have been presented with a bar graph that purportedly measures how racists someone is by their political affiliation, showing that conservatives are more racist than liberals.
Another example emphasizes the concept of “social-emotional learning,” which is one of the main foundational learning concepts of critical race theory.
According to a post made by a spokesperson for Gov. Desantis, a public school district in Missouri is asking questions about the sexual abuse of a minor, and a multiple choice question about single mother who worked as a “pimp, prostitute,” and the student gets to choose between “Bookie,” “Drug Dealer,” or “Night Club Dancer.”
These are math questions given to K-12 students infused with Critical Race Theory. Many states are now passing legislation to stop the indoctrination of children in public schools.
