Video: Tornado Destroys Meijer Distribution Center In Tipp City, Ohio

A tornado wreaked havoc in Ohio touching down in several counties and destroying a Meijer distribution center in Tipp City.

The roof on the Northwest corner was ripped off and the wall along the same side of the building collapsed.

No injuries have been reported as of 8:00 p.m. local time. It is unclear how many employees were inside the facility at the time.

Houses behind the warehouse also were damaged and a portion of the roof at a nearby business was reportedly blown off, according to the Miami County Sheriff’s Office.

The tornado was first reported at about 5 p.m. Wednesday in Darke County which is near the Ohio and Indiana state line. The system reportedly traveled into Miami County, through the Tipp City area, and into Clark County, and north Springfield.

Damage has also been reported in Clark and Darke counties, potentially from the same storm system. The Clark County damage happened about two hours and more than 60 miles from the Darke County area where the storm was first reported.

Thousands of power outages have been reported across the region as a result of the Wednesday evening storms, the sheriff’s office said.
