First Lady Jill Biden is apologizing, through her press secretary, for comparing Latinos to Tacos.
In a post, sent out on Tuesday press secretary Michael LaRosa tweeted,
“The First Lady apologizes that her words conveyed anything but pure admiration and love for the Latino community,”

The major faux pas happened on Monday as Mrs. Biden was speaking at a conference in San Antonio when she said,
“The diversity of this community….. is as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio”
Not surprising the comment did not sit well with the Latino community who immediately began slamming her on social media.
U.S. Congresswoman Mayra Flores out of Texas took to Instagram saying,
They just don’t get it. Latinos aren’t buying their liberal pandering— we care about the rising costs of housing, food, gas prices, issues that impact everyday Americans. No matter how loud they yell their made up words, it won’t change the reality of their failed policies.
Flores referring to when Biden attempted to say Bodegas -a cultural term for convenience stores- but said Bogidas instead,
“The diversity of this community, as distinct as the bogidas of the Bronx…”
Steve Guest, Special Advisor for Communications for Sen. Ted Cruz, tweeted out,
“Jill Biden just said Hispanics are as “unique” as tacos. This isn’t Veep. Which White House speechwriter just won a bet for getting the First Lady to say something like this?”

Congressman Andy Biggs took aim at both of Biden’s mishaps saying,
“Jill Biden says Hispanics are as “unique” as tacos and calls bodegas “bogidas.” No wonder Hispanics are fleeing the Democratic Party!”

Biden even caught the attention of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) who pointedly said,
“We are not tacos. Using breakfast tacos to try to demonstrate the uniqueness of Latinos in San Antonio demonstrates a lack of cultural knowledge and sensitivity to the diversity of Latinos in the region. Our heritage as Latinos is shaped by a variety of diasporas, cultures and food traditions, and should not be reduced to a stereotype.”
NAHJ encourages @FLOTUS & her communications team to take time to better understand the complexities of our people & communities.

Biden’s approval rating among the Hispanic community has plummeted to 26% down from 55% last year, according to a Quinnipiac poll.
In fact, Biden is less popular among Hispanic Americans than any other demographic.
