The liberal Mayor of Washington D.C., Muriel Bowser, appeared on “Face the Nation” on Sunday and talked about the homelessness crisis that is impacting her city, saying that homeless shelters are now being overwhelmed by illegal migrants who are being bussed to D.C. from Texas.
Back in April, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced that the state would start sending migrants who crossed the border illegally to the doorstep of the U.S. Capitol,
“Thanks to the State of Texas, President Biden will be able to immediately meet the needs of migrants he is allowing to cross our border by busing them to his backyard. The Biden Administration’s failed efforts to secure the border are appalling. By busing migrants to Washington, D.C., Texas is sending a clear message: we should not have to bear the burden of the federal government’s inaction to secure the border, and the Lone Star State will do whatever it takes to keep Texans safe.”
The Texas Governor kept his promise and now Bowser’s sanctuary city is being forced to bear the burden of the unprecedented number of illegal migrants crossing the southern border each month.
Bowser admitted that it’s a “significant issue” as her city is feeling the economic impact of Joe Biden’s open border policies and wants the administration to get involved saying her administration “called on the federal government to work across state lines to prevent people from really being tricked into getting on buses.”
Basically Bowser appears to be saying ‘we don’t want illegal migrants overcrowding our shelters and causing a financial burden here in D.C. so stop Abbott from sending them.’ I guess that means keep the open border policies but make sure illegals stay out of D.C.
Bowser was then asked whether local and national taxpayers should be forced to pick up the tab for illegal migrants something she insisted was not true,
“Local taxpayers are not picking up the tab. They should not pick up the tab. We really need a coordinated federal response. We know that it’s done for refugees who come to the states from all points of the world and the same has to be done in the situation,” Bowser said.
However, money spent by the Federal Government comes from taxpayers so any program that is put in place to help illegal migrants or refugees is paid for by American taxpayers.
In fact, according to world population review, illegal migration costs Americans $250 billion a year.

A group of House Republicans demanded answers from the Biden Administration after reports indicated that the federal government has been paying for the transportation costs of illegal migrants who were traveling across the country to get abortions.
According to the latest data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, 207,416 illegal migrants crossed the border in the month of June alone, pushing the total for Fiscal Year 2022 to more than 1.7 million illegal migrant crossings – nearly half of which are allowed entry into the United States.
