The White House was forced to delete a tweet that claimed Joe Biden’s ‘leadership’ was the reason for increased Social Security payments, after it was flagged by Twitter for being misleading.
The increase in Social Security payments was in fact caused by the skyrocketing inflation, which is at a 40 year high and plaguing the nation,
“Seniors are getting the biggest increase in their Social Security checks in 10 years through President Biden’s leadership,” The White House tweeted.
The tweet was flagged and “context” notes were added by Twitter, something Musk is focusing on as he moves forward with the company,
“The community notes feature is awesome. Our goal is to make Twitter the most accurate source of information on Earth, without regard to political affiliation.”
Social Security benefits will rise by 8.7% next year, which is the largest cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) in more than 40 years. COLA is calculated based on the increase in the Consumer Price Index (inflation) from the third quarter of 2021 to third quarter 2022.
