A sophomore on the Colorado College men’s tennis team, Jack Madison, died suddenly in his sleep on January 2nd. The school said that the cause of the 20-year-old’s death has not been announced,
Colorado College Vice President and Director of Athletics Lesley Irvine said,
“We are devastated by the tragic passing of Jack Madison.”
Madison was recruited to Colorado Springs out of Bexley, Ohio, where he was a two-time all-state selection at Columbus Academy.
Madison’s death came about a week before the sudden death of 21-year-old Air Force football player Hunter Brown who died Monday after suffering a “medical emergency” near his dorm while he was on his way to class.
Brown joined the Academy in 2021 and was pursuing a degree in management. He played two seasons with the football team as an offensive lineman.
In a statement, Lt. Gen. Richard M. Clark, the superintendent at the academy said,
“Hunter was a standout offensive lineman on the Falcon football team and was well-respected in his squadron,” “The entire U.S. Air Force Academy mourns his loss, and our hearts and condolences are with his family, his squadron, and all who were touched by this incredible young man.”
The school said Brown was leaving his dormitory to attend class on Monday when he “experienced a medical emergency” and could not be resuscitated by first responders who were called “immediately” to the scene to attempt “life saving measures.” A specific cause of death has not been released.
