BREAKING: Florida Senate Votes To Axe Disney’s Special Self Governing Status

The Florida Senate passed a bill Wednesday Axing Disney’s Special Status that allows them to operate its Walt Disney World properties independently under the Reedy Creek Improvement District. The Special status has allowed Disney to be able to self-govern for decades.

The Senate passed Senate Bill 4C 23-16 just one  day after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis added the item to the special session agenda. The bill now moves to the House for a vote.

Gov. DeSantis introduced added the item to the special session after Disney vowed to do everything in their power to take down the Governors Parental Rights and Education Act which prohibits educators from indoctrinating children ages kindergarten through third grade with gender ideology and sex change information.  The Parental Rights and Education Act goes into effect July 1.

Disney has been attacking Gov. DeSantis since the passage of House Bill 1557 last month.

If signed into law, Senate Bill 4C would take away Disney’s self governing status.

It now goes to the state House for a vote before going to the desk of Gov. DeSantis

Aguayo News Previously Reported:

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis asked the State Legislature to repeal a law that gives Disney World a special status which basically allows the company to operate as a private government.

DeSantis has battled with Disney over the company’s opposition to a new law that prohibits educators from indoctrinating kids ages kindergarten through third grade with gender identity, sexual orientation or sex change ideology.

On Tuesday, as lawmakers returned to the Capitol for a special legislative session on congressional redistricting, Gov. DeSantis issued a proclamation that allows the statehouse to take up bills eliminating Disney’s self-governing district.

At a news conference DeSantis , without mentioning Disney by name, said,

“I am announcing today that we are expanding the call of what they are going to be considering this week. And so, yes they will be considering the congressional map, but they also will be considering termination of all special districts that were enacted in Florida prior to 1968, and that includes the Reedy Creek Improvement District,”

The Reedy Creek Improvement District is a private government controlled by Disney World and set up by the state Legislature in 1967 that allows it to provide government services such as zoning, fire protection, utilities and infrastructure.

The move comes after Disney announced that they would do everything they could to repeal the new Parental Rights in Education law,

Recently, video surfaced of Disney executives saying they would do everything possible to inject gay, lesbian and transgender ideology into its theme parks and children’s movies.
