Democrats are planning to start investigating whether or not oil companies are to blame for high prices at the pump. The new legislation the democrats are drafting would require that the Federal Trade Commission to conduct the investigations.
82-year-old Nancy Pelosi continues to insist that Democrat policy, Joe Biden and his war on American Energy is not to blame for the skyrocketing prices that started to spike about a month after Biden took office. Instead the California liberal blames the conflict in Ukraine and oil companies,
“Democrats are moving forward with forceful action that will stop and hold accountable oil and gas companies for profiteering and manipulating markets.”
However, Biden has made many moves including halting oil leases on federal lands, cancelling the Keystone XL pipeline and a plan to fine oil companies who are not actively exploring for oil on all leased lands.
According to oil expert Derek Zubeldia oil exploration and drilling for oil costs tens of millions of dollars. Zubeldia, who is running for the Texas State Senate said that with the anti-energy stance the Biden Administration has taken, those risks are not ones that oil companies are wiling to take as the losses could be catastrophic.
The newest scapegoat for the democrats, oil companies, comes as they try to frantically lower the record setting gas prices ahead of the mid-term elections in November. Democrats now claim that major energy companies are raking in record profits for investors at the price of the American people.
Democrats previously blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin for increasing prices however gas prices and inflation have been steadily rising since Biden took office January 2021.
New York Senator Chuck Schumer admitted the move to have oil companies investigated is political, and that they are hoping it will hurt Republicans ahead of the mid-term elections,
“When the bills hit the floor, Republicans will face a dilemma. Which side are they on, the consumer and lowering gas prices, or on the side of Big Oil? We’ll soon find out.”
Democrats are counting on Americans listening to and believing Democrat / Mainstream media talking points instead of realizing the investigations will cost Americans more in tax dollars and the Democrats aren’t concerned with the results.
