The Kaukauna Area School District Board of Education voted 6-1 to terminate Patrick Meyer after a nearly 10-hour closed session.

The district said that his social media post “created actual material disruption to district and school operations.”

Meyer, who had taught in the district for more than 20 years, posted on X on April 26 – one day after the April 25 shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C.

In the now-deleted post, he wrote:

“I am not impressed with recent presidential ass*ssins. It’s f—ing embarrassing! Booth, Guiteau, Oswald must all be spinning in their graves! MAGAA (make Americans great ass*ssins again)! Sad!”

He was referencing Cole Tomas Allen, 31, who is facing federal charges including attempt to ass*ssinate the President.

Prosecutors say Allen rushed a security checkpoint at the Washington Hilton, fired a shot (hitting a Secret Service agent wearing a vest) before falling down and being tackled by Secret Service.

The district placed Meyer on administrative leave on April 27, after major backlash.

Board member Charles West was the lone “no” vote, citing the First Amendment

“The First Amendment is really important to me. I think we really probably should support that first one… I do understand all the concerns from parents.”
