#News Hispanics in New York are voicing their frustration with a mosque blaring the Islamic ‘call to prayer’ at all times of the day and night in Zohran Mamdani’s city.

Residents are saying, “We’ve had enough!”
“The daily blastings are hell”
Mosques no longer need a special permit to broadcast the adhan if the volume stays at what City Hall called a “reasonable level” from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Fridays and at sunset during Ramadan, however residents claim they are blaring them ‘all the time’
#muslim Examples:
🟢At Masjid Nur al-Islam on Church Avenue in Kensington, Brooklyn, speakers are going off around 12:30 p.m., 3 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 7:15 p.m.
🟢The mosque said it skips the early morning call out of courtesy.
🟢In February 2026, residents posted clips of blaring call to prayers and said the sound was a political claim on the block, not a private act of worship.
🟢Former Mslim Danny Burmawi said the call once existed because people had no alarms.
In 2026, he said,
“Mslims don’t need it, but political Islam needs it,” and called outdoor broadcasting
“a declaration that we exist politically, and we are taking over the public space.”
🟢New York City has about 2.42 million Hispanic residents, 28.5% of the city.
🟢New York State has about 20.2% Hispanic, about 4 million people out of nearly 19.9 million. New York City public schools: Hispanics are the largest student group, about 43%. Many say that the attacks like those seen in Michigan (Mslims attacking a Black woman, calling her the N word and stealing her items after a crash, and a Mslim spitting in the face of a Black man, calling him the N word and threatening to kll him) will start happening in New York.
