In 2016, Obama dropped at least 26,000 bombs across multiple countries like Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan, – in what was called ‘a bloody end to Obama’s presidency’
Obama was criticized his lack of transparency about the civilian casualties – with estimates suggesting between 384 and 807 civilians were k*lled in these countries because of Obama’s drone strikes alone.
During Obama’s eight years in office (2009-2017), the U.S. conducted about 563 drone strikes in Pakistan, Somalia, and Yemen.
This is a significant increase from the 57 strikes under George W. Bush.
Obama did not seek congressional approval for his strikes aside from in 2013 – when Obama tried to get congressional approval for military action in Syria but Congress did not act, so he conducted the strike anyway, without their approval.
