#news Sen. Elissa Slotkin claims the only reason she’s getting attacked for saying Trump administration officials and supporters should be prosecuted – to scare young conservatives out of public service – is because she’s a woman.
The Michigan Democrat made the gender claim after her clip calling for the intimidation of young conservatives through prosecution sparked widespread backlash😙*
“I want young people coming out of school to say, Should I go work for the Trump administration? …. I want them to be like, Lord, that might be buying myself a ton of problems that I don’t want and so let me avoid participating in that. I want that deterrence message sent.” Now she’s saying people are only upset because she’s a woman.
“I do think there’s something about being a woman and criticizing them and calling them out on that corruption that really gets under their skin, obviously, or they wouldn’t respond.” “You know, remember the Second Amendment, sweetheart, or all that crap.”
**She claimed her comments were aimed at people who might be asked to carry out illegal requests and that the president has immunity while subordinates do not – so they would be the ones to go after.
Slotkin is standing by her original comments but has reframed them as accountability for specific corruption involving taxpayer dollars or illegal acts benefiting Trump or his family. Republicans don’t buy it and say her remarks are an explicit threat to stop young conservatives from participating in government. Sen. Mike Lee called it “absolutely disgraceful to threaten young Americans for participating in politics and serving their country” and said what she was suggesting is fascism. President Trump called Slotkin a “low life” who is “ruining her state.”
Okay, so here’s the backstory:
Sen. Elissa Slotkin told college kids that she wants to prosecute people who work for President Donald Trump, so Republicans coming out of school are afraid to work in a Republican administration. **
“I want to look at these signature cases and not just focus on the president but on the people who enabled him.”
“I want young people coming out of school to say … should I go work for the Trump administration?”
“I want them to be like Lord, that might be buying myself a ton of problems that I don’t want and so let me avoid participating in that. I want that deterrence message sent.”
The Democratic senator, who was talking to a University of Chicago audience, outlined what she said Democrats should do after winning an election.**
She argued accountability cannot be their entire focus – “you can’t just make that your whole personality- but you have to prosecute cases so the public can understand the consequences, like people who are making changes to the White House East Wing, rather than obscure contracts.” “The people around Donald Trump who are doing his bidding and enabling this have no such immunity”
“He couldn’t do any of this stuff without all those people saluting and supporting it. So, you go after the people who did his bidding.” Slotkin is saying that when Democrats get control, they will prosecute the construction workers who are working on the new ballroom, because they enabled President Trump.
**Critics say this is communist and authoritarian rhetoric, and that Democrats – once in power – will jail their political opponents; something they are already publicly admitting to planning.
Slotkin has said she also wants to prosecute people like former DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, and U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro.
Slotkin was one of the Seditious Six who made a video with five other Democrats urging service members to refuse orders from the President.
Slotkin has also called for “Trump-proofing” government. Do you think that all Democrats share Slotkin’s views of prosecuting Republicans to deter them from serving in Republican administrations? #ChristinaAguayoNews
