The mayor of a small Texas Town, Matthew McIlravy has been arrested by the Dallas Police Department and charged with soliciting a minor online.
The 42-year-old was elected last month and has officially been charged with solicitation of a minor under the age of 14 which a second-degree felony.
According to reports McIlravy is also a teacher and was busted after a five-month investigation by the DPD’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit.
Police said the ongoing investigation also showed that McIlravy has been communicating with other minors who have yet to be identified.
According to a statement released by Pilot Point City Manager Britt Lusk, McIlravy was arrested Tuesday morning while at City Hall,
“The City’s government is designed to be flexible and resilient. The City will follow applicable state law and the City’s charter to fill any vacancies. In the absence of the Mayor, the City’s charter provides that the Mayor Pro-Tem presides over meetings.”
According to his government profile. McIlravy is a married father of two boys and works as a design engineer. His photo and information have been removed.
