#NEW Many are wondering, why Barack Obama is meeting with world leaders while President Trump is in office?
Obama met with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in Canada on Friday, flying
to Toronto to give a keynote speech (that was closed to the media) at the gala at the Fairmont Royal York hotel. Carney publicly welcomed him with a post saying “Welcome back to Canada, President Obama, Thank you for joining us in Toronto for important conversations on how we can build a better and more just future — and empower more people to build with us.”
Carney and his wife Diana Fox Carney met Obama in person for talks that they say were on leadership, civic engagement, strengthening democratic institutions, and inclusive societies.
However critics say this is another example of how Obama is engaging in a shadow government, and continuing to try to undermine President Trump.
Many call it inappropriate at best, while others say that Obama has violated the Logan Act – which bans citizens from unauthorized correspondence or discussions with foreign governments to influence disputes with the U.S.
- Republicans are accusing Obama of running a parallel foreign policy, especially after he said that Trump’s second term pulled him back into politics more than he preferred.
